WEB-SITE DOMAINS...

If you are considering a new or additional web-site... I've concluded some information to consider during the process.

First, it is best to have your "own" domain name. For example www.yourbusinessname.com. I prefer .com's, but sometimes if a particular name is not available that you absolutely want, others to consider is .net or even .co at end of web address. Getting a domain name involves registering the name you want with an organization called ICANN through a domain name registrar. Creative Results can handle this process for you or you can also choose to do this on your own. Registration will typically cost around $10.00 a year. It gives you the right to that name for a year and it does need to be renewed yearly. You don't want to risk losing a name down the road that you have chosen, so keep that in mind. Sometimes, it is a good time to consider changing your domain too. If you're name is available, you don't want to wait to long to register it either!

Tips on choosing name...
Consider...
~ Utilizing your actual company name or a shorter version of it - something that consumers will remember. ~ Think about having a few different domain names for better search engine results. It really is a low price to pay! (less than a buck per month!)
~ Not using hypens in name. It's really easy to forget the hyphens when typing a name.
~ There always has been speculation on if a long or short name is better. Both options really are fine and work. If a shorter name makes sense and is easy to remember and advertise, I'd choose that first. If you have a longer business name, I'd probably go with the full name. Longer names will help in search engine browsing, especially if it has your name or service within the name. Again, this really is personal preference. There can be advantages and disadvantages in both. Use your best judgement and market the name you choose and your on your way!

Example - my business name was taken. It took me a very long time to decide what to do. My slogan was always "Get the results your business deserves." I felt I was taking a bit of a chance, but I chose the domain www.getcreativeresults.com. This decision has worked out well for me!
